Post 6: Credit test requirements

Dear All,

I'd like to explain to you the credit test requirements

You need to prepare a lesson plan for the lesson you are going to teach us during your presentations
tomorrow. The lesson plan should cover the whole lesson, but you're going to teach us a part of it,
explaining the rest of it during the presentation.

I'm asking you to share your plans until 7 pm tonight (27 April, 2020) for me to have time to get
acquainted with them.

I'm going to grade your presentations together with your plans.

Here is a link to a sample lesson plan you can use to prepare yours:

It is based on the speech titled "Txtng is killing language. JK!!! by John McWhorter. It's based on the talk discussing the development of the language, esp. in terms of SMS

It contains the Students'

and the T's version of the plan

You need are both since as Ss you're going to use the Ss' version and the T's version is necessary to see the stages of the lesson, its goals and objectives as well as the step by step instructions.

The structure of the lesson is common:
a) A  warm-up activity: in this case, it's a set of questions for discussion
b) A video & discussion section which includes a vocabulary activity followed by the discussion activity
c) A set of language tasks aimed at helping the students with different elements of the language of texting as a result of which the Ss are asked to decode a set of text messages
d) Finally, the Ss are asked to text to each other using the abbreviations studied during the lesson and the text terms

Each of you will have about 10-12 min to present and answer the questions

As I explained earlier today in Whatsapp, you can choose to do whatever you think best suits the purposes of your lesson. Just be ready to explain your choices

Also, I'm sharing the Technology integration assessment rubric we'll use to evaluate your lesson plans and presentations. I'll ask you too to take part in evaluating each others' lesson plans and presentations: follow the link to access the rubric:

You'll see that it's designed as a 4-point grading system. Hope you won't get confused. We'll convert it like this:

4 > 5
3 > 4
2 > 3
1 > 2

But I hope we won't need the lower grades. I'm sure you'll prepare well.

Good luck with your presentations tomorrow!
